Reflecting on 2024 at the Petey Greene Program

Wow, what a year! As 2024 ends and we celebrate the holidays with our families, friends, and loved ones, I hope that you will take some time to reflect with me on all the incredible work that the Petey Greene Program has done in 2024.

We started the year off with the launch of our Puttkammer Center for Educational Justice and Equity, which has already taken off like a rocket ship as we have hired new fellows, began program evaluations, and formed new partnerships. The Center has only just begun to make an impact on the correctional and reentry education space and we’re looking forward to what’s to come, especially with the recent award of an Ascendium grant to support our research and development projects.

The Petey Greene Program drove a steady increase in volunteer placements, students tutored, and College Bridge program hours delivered. We are looking forward to even greater expansion in 2025, including introducing our programs to new regions across the country and adding dedicated offerings for our English Language Learners.

We hosted many incredible events, including our Annual Run/Walk for Education Justice in four regions. We are looking forward to our 2025 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, April 12 with an expansion to our Washington D.C. community. We had an amazing Going Greene event, honoring Larry Miller, Chairman of the Board of the Jordan Brand, and his daughter, Laila Lacey. At Going Greene, we presented the very first James S. Farrin Award for Volunteers to a worthy and dedicated tutor.

All of this could not be possible without an incredible Petey Greene Program staff, Board, volunteers, students, and each of you. We have many great things already planned for 2025 and hope that you will consider making an end of year donation to the Petey Greene Program so we can hit the ground running.

And to our students: we are committed to helping everyone impacted by the criminal legal system find a new tomorrow filled with stability, happiness, and success. Your determination is what motivates us all to come to work each day.

The Petey Greene Program wishes you a very happy and healthy holiday season and new year.

Meet Aisha, A Former PGP Student

Meet Aisha, a former PGP student who received her Masters in Public Administration with the support of Petey Greene Program tutors. We hope you will read her story to see how your donation to the PGP makes a direct and lasting impact!

The Petey Greene Program wishes you a happy and healthy new year. We hope you will remain engaged with us in 2025 and we are excited for what lies ahead!
