Announcing the Puttkammer Center for Educational Justice and Equity
In the Petey Greene Program’s 15-year history, we have grown from a small service-focused organization into a leader in the field of carceral and reentry education as we advocate for systemic change while continuing to refine our programs in support of the educational advancement of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated learners.
I am thrilled to announce the newest branch of the Petey Greene Program, the Puttkammer Center for Educational Justice and Equity, launching in 2024.
The Puttkammer Center will identify and promote best practices in the field of correctional and reentry education through research and pilot program evaluation, helping the PGP grow in a strategic and sustainable way, while serving as a catalyst for research and policy proposals that promote access to high quality education behind and beyond bars. Our work will build on the PGP’s expertise and its network of researchers, practitioners, and advocates, while centering the voices and expertise of system-impacted people.
The Puttkammer Center will include three complementary components:
We are looking forward to kicking off the great work of the Center for Educational Justice and Equity in 2024. We will hit the ground running and we have ambitious goals, including expending into a new region, piloting and evaluating three new programs, and hiring the first cohort of Fellows prioritizing currently and formerly incarcerated scholars.
You have the exciting opportunity to be one of the first donors to the Puttkammer Center - your donation will accelerate its success and growth. All contributions will be matched dollar-for-dollar, thanks to the generous support of Charlie and Cordie Puttkammer. We hope that you consider giving generously today to the Petey Greene Program and the Puttkammer Center as we look ahead to 2024 with big goals to change the landscape of education for system-impacted people.
